ROOF FAST AQUISITION
Midland Building Plastics has bought a Midlands based company to add to its growing portfolio of services. Roof Fast UK, situated on Wetherby Road, off Ascot Drive, Derby manufactures conservatory roofs and porches, complementing Midland Building Plastics own range of products.
Mick Scales, Operations Manager, of the company said of the merger "We have had a long relationship with Roof Fast UK and are delighted to see the positive results of this deal. This is likely to create a number of local jobs during difficult economic times.”
The acquisition follows a phenomenal 22% growth rate for the company in an industry that saw a 8,5% reduction in growth in 2009 and has prepared itself for a further 4% drop in 2010; showing it’s most prolonged decline in nearly thirty years. Bucking this general trend of decline across the construction industry as a whole, Midland Building Plastics, really is a local business success story. "We have achieved so much during what has been the worst global recession ever, and as the Country works its way back to prosperity, the future for the company is very bright indeed" said Mick.
Midland Building Plastics has gone from strength to strength, and last year opened the doors of its showroom to both trade and public alike. The acquisition of Roof Fast UK, was the result of growth plans to enter the flat roofing market, which was traditionally carried out using materials with a short life span requiring constant reroofing.
Demand and requests for longer-term solutions has led to changing markets and rapid growth. “That’s when we seized our opportunity to take a positive step forward, the expertise that the Roof Fast team will bring is a crucial addition to our future success. The new team are already working on the new product range, from conservatory roofs to porches” added Mick.
